1. Howell Island Conservation Area

Located just 18 miles northwest of downtown Ellisville, this place can be reached in about 20 minutes and is a fantastic destination for a day trip or a weekend escape.

Providing plenty of recreational opportunities for visitors, Howell Island Conservation Area is open year-round between 4:00 am and 10:00 pm. Fishing is allowed on the banks of the Missouri River, which borders the northern side of the island for about five miles. 2. Pere Marquette State Park

Spanning an area of over 8,000 acres and located about 60 miles north of the Ellisville city center, Pere Marquette State Park is another well-known fishing destination that can be reached in a little over one hour by car via route I-270 and Great River Road. Managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Pere Marquette State Park is located on the banks of the Illinois River. 3. Cuivre River State Park

Located a little over 40 miles northwest of the Ellisville city center, this place can be reached in about 45 minutes via routes I-64 and US-61.
