Transmission Fluid Replacement
Transmission fluid is used by the transmission to provide the hydraulic power that shifts the gears. It’s pumped through the transmission, cooling the hot components as it moves. The fluid also protects numerous components against unnecessary wear and tear by covering them in a friction-resistant coating. This fluid does age and needs regular replacement to keep the transmission working efficiently.
The fluid is usually replaced every 30,000 to 60,000 miles, and the correct replacement time for your INFINITI is listed in your vehicle handbook. Older fluid provides less hydraulic power, leading to shifting delays and other issues. It also offers less friction protection, and transmission components will wear out faster. We fix this issue by draining and replacing the fluid and installing a new transmission filter.

Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW)
Front collision warning systems are installed in many modern vehicles. They use cameras and radar to identify a car ahead of you, assess its speed and distance from your vehicle, then compare it to your speed. If the system determines you’re closing too fast, you receive warnings to brake or swerve and avoid a collision. Your INFINITI, however, takes this protection to a whole new level.
PFCW monitors the vehicle ahead and the one beyond it using a highly advanced radar scanner. Since the system can see two cars ahead, it provides more warning time than any other system. Every second counts in a potential accident situation, and the extra time PFCW gives you can easily be the difference between a near miss and a collision. In addition, PFCW can instantly apply automatic hard braking if needed to avoid an accident.

Understanding the INFINITI Predictive Collision Warning
Activating the System
Like all other INFINITI driver assistance safety systems, it’s controlled via the lower display screen on your right. The steps are:
- Select the “Menu” option at the bottom of the screen
- Select “Driver Assistance”
- Select “Emergency Assist”
- Select ‘Forward” and choose “On”
If you want to switch the system off, follow the above steps, then choose “Off” in step 4. This system is linked to the Front Emergency Braking (FEB) with Pedestrian Detection, so switching Predictive Collision Warning off will also switch off FEB. An icon will appear on your screen to alert you that FEB is not active.
