Silky’s Frozen Custard

Located on Manchester Road in Ellisville, Silky’s Frozen Custard has been known to draw big crowds. On the menu, you’ll find ice cream combinations to quench any craving. The Elvis Pretzely — which involves pretzels covered in caramel and melted chocolate — is a frozen favorite. For a tropical taste you can’t find anywhere else, check out the Hawaiian, which combines macadamia nuts, banana, pineapple, and coconut custard. In addition to selling frozen custard in cones and cups, Silky’s lets you buy it by the quart. If that doesn’t completely satisfy your cravings, check out the custard cookies, concretes, and shakes.

Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Store

If you’re looking for some ice cream flavors you’ve never experienced or even heard of, Oberweis is your ice cream shop. A few of their must-try flavors include brandy, cherry pie, chocolate marshmallow, cinnamon, lemon blackberry, and dark chocolate sea salt caramel. If you’re not in the mood for a scoop, feel free to grab an Oberweis shake, sundae, smoothie, or coffee drink. The shop’s famous frostbites combine candy — including M&Ms, Oreos, cookie dough, and Reese’s — with ice cream.

Young’s Restaurant and Ice Creamery

This old-school diner offers every kind of ice cream, whether in an ice cream soda or a banana split. Young’s even offers new-school menu items like concretes and mini concretes. Your kids can grab an old-fashioned ice cream cone.

If you’re extra hungry, Young’s satisfies a wide range of cravings with its lunch and dinner options. All-American menu items, like the roast beef sandwich and four-piece chicken dinner, are local favorites. There’s even a seafood section on the menu, where you can find catfish, clam strips, and hushpuppies.

Andy’s Frozen Custard

Technically, Andy’s is located in Ballwin, but it’s located on Manchester Road and is a quick trip for most of us. With its unique menu options and seasonal treats, Andy’s is well worth the journey. Special summer menu items, including the key lime pie concrete and peach sundae, are big draws. Andy’s also has a little something for every season, including a pumpkin pie concrete for Thanksgiving and a Kris Kringle hot fudge sundae topped with candy cane sprinkles for Christmas.

The Malt Shop

Located right next door in Fenton, Missouri, the Malt Shop specializes in ice cream but can also treat you to an all-American feast of burgers and fries. When it comes to ice cream, the Malt Shop serves it in every form, including as a shake, sundae, root beer float, or ice cream sandwich. The Malt Shop also puts a big emphasis on toppings, with a wide range of fruit, sauces, and candies available to enhance your chosen scoop. The Malt Shop is open from early spring until late fall, so make sure you don’t show up during the winter off-season.

When you’re craving a delicious frozen dessert, Ellisville serves up a wide range of treats. Check out these local favorites and let us know what you think!
