1. Roger Klamberg Woods Conservation Area/ BlueBird Park

The Roger Klamberg Woods Conservation Area is chock full of hiking trails that meander through beautiful woods and cross babbling streams. This is a great place to bird watch, look at the local flora, and maybe even catch a glimpse of a deer.

Open daily from sunrise to sunset, this delightful spot sits at 89 Oak Hill Dr. and is next to Bluebird Park which has picnic areas and restrooms. After you are finished hiking through the thick trees of Roger Klamberg Woods, be sure to enjoy a picnic, concert, or movie at Bluebird Park. There is always something fun going on.

2. World Bird Sanctuary Center

The World Bird Sanctuary is an internationally known conservation and rehabilitation center that is home to over 60 species. Found at 125 Bald Eagle Ridge Road, Valley Park, this refuge is nestled in 300 acres of Missouri forest. Entry into the Center is $8.00 per person, $12.00 per car, or $20.00 per bus (those under the age of 5 are free.)

There are guided tours and hiking trails for you to enjoy, as well as some up-close-and-personal experiences such as the parrot meet & greet, painting with Sprinkles the Emu, and Books & Buddies. This refuge does a stellar job of educating the world about the unique gifts birds give to us.

3. Endangered Wolf Center

Located at 6750 Tyson Valley Road, Eureka, the Endangered Wolf Center is dedicated to caring for endangered animals as well as educating the public about their importance.  Over 60,000 visitors a year come here to learn about what danger is in store for ecosystems when predators are completely eliminated. The Endangered Wolf Center helps manage the careful breeding, rehabilitation, and release into the wild of several breeds of wolves, foxes, and other wild species.

This wildlife refuge offers many stunning activities for visitors to engage in. There are tours, yoga classes, evening ‘howls’, and photography tours. There are add-ons available to the regular tours that include interaction with some of the animals that can’t be released into the wild. Ticket prices begin at $13.00 for the 90-minute tours.
